Arusha

Day 1 Arrival Arusha

Karibu! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be met by our representative and transferred to Arumeru River Lodge in Arusha. After check in formalities settle in your room, enjoy the hotel amenities, unwind and get ready for your first adventure tomorrow morning. Your stay includes Breakfast.

Ngorongoro

Day 2 Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast you will be picked up from the hotel by your local professional tour driver-guide and travel to the Great Rift Valley and the Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive with picnic lunch. You will travel through the agricultural and fresh produce market town of Mto Wa Mbu, which is situated next to the entrance of the Lake Manyara National Park.

The Lake Manyara National Park is one of Tanzania’s most dramatically located African wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake (covering two-thirds of the park) at the foot of the Great Rift Valley’s western escarpment. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa’s densely populated African elephants’ herds, Lake Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions, as well as large flocks of flamingos, attracted by the algae in the lake. We will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park.

In the afternoon immerse yourself in the Maasai culture when visiting a Maasai Boma and learn Maasai way of life, livestock keeping, food & drinks used by Maasai, herding, house construction and may be participate in their traditional dances.

As night falls drive to Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge, your base for the next 2 nights and from which you will explore the Ngorongoro Conservation area. This lodge is set directly on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater, overlooking the crater and all its rooms offer awe-inspiring views of the crater. Your stay is on Full Board

Ngorongoro

Day 3: Full Day Ngorongoro Crater

This morning enjoy an early start after breakfast at the lodge. You’ll descend 2,000 feet below the camp to the crater’s floor. Your day here will be full of excitement as this 10-mile wide crater is home to the densest concentration of wildlife in Africa. Your experienced guide has an intimate knowledge of the area and will explain the finer, intricate details of the bush, its wildlife and its many wonders. The crater shelters close to 30.000 animals including the Big Five. The area teems with zebras, buffaloes, lions, wildebeest, warthogs, baboons, elephants, flamingos, ostriches, hippos, cheetahs. Enjoy Picnic lunch on the Crater. In the late afternoon drive back to the lodge and enjoy the lodge amenities. The whole family can dip in the lodge’s beautiful pool for a refreshing swim after a long day down at the crater or enjoy games in the lodge’s game room.

Dinner is served at the lodge under the African stars or in dining room with silver and crystal.

Serengeti

Day 4 – 6 Serengeti National Park

After a leisurely breakfast guests depart for the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy the drive through wonderful landscape and wildlife viewing areas from Ngorongoro Crater down into the Serengeti National Park. En route you will stop at Olduvai Gorge also known as “the Cradle of Mankind.” Set between the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti, the gorge makes a good stop for guests travelling between the two, rewarding visitors with a presentation on its history, an excellent new museum, and beautiful views – as well as the possibility of visiting an active dig. The gorge is one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world because it has the oldest evidence of human evolution. The whole family will enjoy the amazing view from the Gorge as well as its history.

Once you have seen the museum and the children have explored the site, you continue on a game drive through the Seronera Plains, ending in the late afternoon at Mbuzi Mawe Tented Camp a Central Serengeti gem carefully positioned for close proximity to the wildlife herds and great migration. Your stay at this luxury tented lodge is on Full Board and will grant you the opportunity to enjoy game drives directly on your doorstep every day!

Your day will be spent exploring the wilderness, enjoy spectacular Big five 4 x 4 Game Drives, walking safaris, as well as packed lunches, Sundowners & Bonfires. With the wildlife here being prolific expect to see Cheetah, Lion, Leopard, Hyena, Bat-eared Fox, Reedbuck, Giraffe, Elephant, Hippo, Rhino, Warthog.

Adventurous night safari drives offer guests with the unique opportunity to explore the nocturnal predators. Off-road driving gives guests a vantage point from which to view wildlife hence creating exciting photo opportunities.

Zanzibar

Day 7 Serengeti - Arusha – Zanzibar

After 6 days of safari Bliss, it is time to bid farewell to the bush as the drive back to Arusha requires an early wake up with picnic lunch en route. Drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Arusha. Arrival is in the middle of the afternoon in time to catch a Precision Air flight from Arusha departing at 15h12 and arriving in Zanzibar at 16h45.You will be met on arrival at Zanzibar Airport and be driven to Tembo Hotel in Stone Town where you will spend the last leg of this family Journey. Your stay includes breakfast giving the family the freedom to dine at the many restaurants spread throughout the city and experience the most delicious food in Africa, rich with flavours from African, Persian, Arabic, Indian, and European cultures.

Tembo Hotel in Stone Town is a child friendly accommodation with family rooms featuring balconies with sea view. It is centrally located in Zanzibar Town; the hotel is connected to a shopping centre and also a short walk from House of Wonders and Christ Church Cathedral. Enjoy Free WiFi in rooms and public areas.

Day 14 Full Day Stone Town

You have 2 full day to explore all angles of Stone Town. Enjoy various optional tours, beach activities and shopping

Suggested activities during your stay

Half Day Stone Town Walking Tour: visit the old slave market, Discover the origin of Swahili, Explore the historical sites, Visit the spice and fruit market

Snorkel with dolphins: You can also organize a snorkel trip to swim with dolphins. For many this is the highlight of their trip.

Zanzibar Old Fort: Kids will love playing inside the old fort walls which were originally built to protect the islanders against the Portuguese. Today it’s preserved as the Zanzibar Cultural Centre. You’ll also find curio shops her

Dhow trip: The traditional wooden sailboats you see in the water around Zanzibar are called dhows and you can hire one for a few hours to take the family out into the Indian Ocean. Try going at sunset for a special experience.

Prison Island visit: Organize a day trip to Prison Island, which is a 30-minute boat ride from Stone Town. It’s a haven of giant tortoises, and the old prison ruins are fun for kids to scamper around. Book a half-day trip, which usually includes snorkeling and sometimes a meal through your hotel.

Nungwi beach: Head to the northern tip of Zanzibar for beach time with the kids. The water here isn’t affected by the tidal changes, which makes it possible to swim all day.

Zanzibar National Museum: Let the children learn about the history of Zanzibar by exploring the Zanzibar National Museum. It was originally built as a ceremonial palace by Sultan Barghash.

Zanzibar Butterfly Centre: You’ll learn all about local butterflies and even witness the entire life cycle of some species on a tour at the Zanzibar Butterfly centre. There are hundreds of native butterfly species in Zanzibar.

Water sports at Paje Beach: There are all sorts of water sports activities on sale at Paje Beach. The area also features gorgeous warm water and white sand.

Departure

Day 10: Departure

This morning it is time to wave farewell to the narrow streets of Stone Town as you will be picked up from the hotel after a leisurely breakfast and transferred to Zanzibar Airport  to connect with Precision air flight departing for Dar-es-Salaam at 10h15 and arriving at 10h45. On arrival in Dar-es-Salaam connect with your International flight home.
